The Roller Spindles play a major role in smooth operation of your garage door.In the 20yrs I have worked in this business, I have repaired thousands of garage doors and would say that a very large proportion of them occurred due to worn garage door spindles.
The main reasons why the Roller Spindles need changing:
1.The age of the Roller Spindles
2.The Tracks the Roller Spindles run in could be too tight which prevents the Roller Wheels from rolling freely, instead they slide in the Tracks causing wear.
3.The Roller Wheels have been covered in grease which prevents the roller wheels from rolling and will eventually wear a flat surface on one side.
NEVER GREASE ROLLER SPINDLES THEY ARE DESIGNED TO ROLL NOT SLIDE
Remember to always apply a light oil (WD40) after fitting and at regular service intervals afterwards.
Replacing the Garage Door Roller Spindles can be a straight forward job. Before any work is carried out the Spring Tension has been taken off the cables this will allow the spindles to be removed safely. On a retractable garage door usually the door requires to be[ locked and proped] whilst the repairs are carried out:
